Tehran keen to enhance ties with Budapest: Salehi

TEHRAN, July 9 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has said that Iran is keen to expand relations with Hungary.

Salehi made the remarks during a meeting with Hungary’s outgoing ambassador George Busztin on Saturday.

According to the Fars news agency, in the meeting the two sides discussed issues concerning an expansion of mutual relations.

Salehi thanked the Hungarian ambassador for his efforts to promote bilateral cooperation during his tenure and pointed to the untapped potential of both countries for the enhancement of relations.

Busztin also appreciated Iran’s hospitality and support during his mission in Tehran, and expressed hope that relations between the two countries will be improved.

He also submitted a letter, addressed to Salehi, in which the Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi had appreciated Iran’s cooperation with the European Union during Hungary's presidency.

Salehi also held a meeting with outgoing Singaporean ambassador to Tehran on Saturday.

Pointing to the strong ties between Iran and Singapore, Salehi said Singapore is an important country to Iran, and Iran is also a reliable partner for the country.
